Parks and Recreation season 6 finale tonight on NBC: 'Moving Up,' with Michelle Obama

First Lady Michelle Obama will make a cameo appearance on the season six finale of NBC hit show "Parks and Recreation" on Thursday, April 24.

Mrs. Obama will play herself in the one-hour episode "Moving Up," and will promote her program to combat childhood obesity, "Let's Move."

The Emmy-nominated "Parks and Recreation" stars Amy Poehler, who recently won a Golden Globe Award for her performance, and features Rashida Jones, Aziz Ansari, and Rob Lowe.

The FLOTUS is the most recent political figure to appear on the comedy series, but she is not the first. Vice President Joe Biden, Arizona Senator John McCain, California Senator Barbara Boxer, and former Maine Senator Olympia Snowe have all made cameo appearances.

According to Executive Producer Michael Schur, however, the show's ultimate political cameo has not yet been realized.

"I always imagined the perfect ending to the series-- and I hope it's not for a while -- would be a casual piece of B-roll where Leslie [Poehler's character] is walking through a building in Washington, D.C., and passes Hillary Clinton, and Hillary Clinton says, 'Leslie.' Leslie says, 'Secretary Clinton,' and keeps walking," Schur told The Hollywood Reporter.

Schur was quick to emphasize that a "Parks and Recreation" series finale is still several years away.

"That might still be five seasons away, but that's the trajectory I would like Leslie to enjoy."

It was also recently announced that Mrs. Obama would be appearing on ABC country series "Nashville" in an episode airing May 7.

Again, her cameo will raise awareness for a larger cause. The "All or Nothing With Me" episode will highlight the First Lady's "Joining Forces" initiative to support military families.

The "Parks and Recreation" season six finale will air April 24 at 8 p.m. on NBC. If you miss tonight's episode, a live stream will be available to watch online on NBC.com.

Michelle Obama's "Nashville" cameo will air May 7 at 10 p.m. on ABC.
