It has been a few years since first-person shooter (FPS) game "Payday 2" was released. With the Nintendo Switch's success in its first year and the game's popularity, Nintendo announced that "Payday 2" will soon be re-released for the Switch.

Nintendo just recently had their Nintendo Direct event where they had a lot of news to share including this one. In addition to the announcement of the Feb. 27 release date, they also mentioned that a new character would be featured in the game. Apparently, a character named Joy will be joining to help in heists.

Joy is the computer wiz or sort of like the hacker in the game. It was described as a "time-exclusive", meaning that Joy will first appear and will be exclusive for the Nintendo Switch users for the time being. That said, Joy will also appear in the game for other consoles. However, no news has been released as to when that will happen.

Another feature they shared was the game's online multiplayer mode. This is not something new to players from the previous consoles, but it still is good to know that most of the features from the original game will also be available on the Switch. Other features include the CRIME.NET feature, a huge arsenal of weapons and modifications, even more masks to choose from, and many more.

The game will run on both portable and tabletop modes, and it will also be available when docked. Although not major, the game will also have a new interface and will now feature touchscreen support, which is not a surprise since it is appropriate for the Switch as well.

"Payday 2" was originally released back in 2013 on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. It has been recently made available for the PS4 and Xbox One as well. A sequel, "Payday 3" is also in the works, but there is not much news about it for now.
