Gamers who have been eager to see if "Persona 5" will be out this year or in 2016 will be happy to know its publisher Atlus Co., Ltd. plans to push the game's release before 2015 ends.

According to a company representative, "Persona 5" development remains on track and such should be welcomed news. The Altus team is still pretty much hard at work trying to figure out the plot for the next installment, something that may cover a swell in the list of characters and other elements in-game.

One thing that was shared by Altus executive Yu Namba through Siliconera was that gay characters could soon be making their way into the game. Apparently this is what he was referring to when he mentioned the part about character development. Could it make a difference?

The whole gay character issue may be traced to "Persona 4" where Kanji had some issues on sexual identity. It went as far as seeking the acceptance of the public with regards to his individual dilemma.

"I can't speak for the game's reception in Japan since I don't have a direct line of feedback to that audience. However, looking past the story of 'Persona 4,' Kanji's choice of words, actions, and you know, him leaning toward the player's direction... they focus on character development," says Namba in that interview with Siliconera.

For those who are unaware, "Persona 5" tells the story of a group of high school students who have the power to summon their so-called Personas to fight off monsters. Battles carried out by the Personas include the use of two weapons — a gun and another for melee.

Earlier rumors suggest that "Persona 5" could likely be out by the fourth quarter of 2015 and barring any delays or problems from hereon, "Persona 5" should be out by that time.

"Persona 5"  is a game specifically designed by developer P Studios for PlayStation (PS) 3, PS4, and PS Vita.
