The return of former Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy, who is now playing for the Buffalo Bills, was not that pleasant as the Eagles protected their home field for a 23–20 win Sunday.

Returning to the Lincoln Financial Field, McCoy kissed the Eagles logo on the field and gave team owner Jeffrey Lurie a hug before the game started.

McCoy had 20 carries for 74 yards and also had four receptions for 35 yards for Buffalo, but the Eagles' defense prevented him from scoring a single touchdown.

The 27-year-old running back failed to lead the Bills to a win facing his former team and headed to the locker room frustrated.

Philadelphia scored first as running back Darren Sproles rushed for a one-yard touchdown in the first quarter that gave them a 7–0 lead.

The Bills answered with their own touchdown to tie the game at 7–7 heading to the second quarter.

In the second quarter, Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford recorded his only touchdown pass as he connected with wide receiver Nelson Agholor for a 53-yard score and a 14–7 advantage.

Bradford finished the game completing 23-of-38 passes for 247 yards and one touchdown, also throwing one interception and was sacked once.

Following the touchdown, the Eagles and Bills scored a field goal each to end the first half with the score of 17–10 in favor of the hosts.

The Bills rallied in the third quarter and did enough to level the score at 20–20 entering the fourth quarter.

Unfortunately, the visitors were unable to score again while Eagles placekicker Caleb Sturgis scored a field goal with more than three minutes remaining to seal the win.

The win over the Bills helped Philadelphia tie the Washington Redskins and the New York Giants with a 6–7 record in the National Football Conference (NFC) East.

Up next for the Eagles is a tall task as they face the Arizona Cardinals who are leading the NFC West with an 11–2 record.
