Legendary Pokemon Groudon is now available for raid battles and can be caught in AR game "Pokemon GO." PokémonGoLive

Niantic Labs just added the first-ever third-generation legendary Pokemon to its augmented reality game "Pokemon GO." The mighty Groudon from "Pokemon Ruby" has arrived and can now be caught.

Niantic earlier in December released 50 3rd Gen Pokemon and then followed it up with Groudon. The game developer is keeping players on their feet with continuous release of legendary Pokemon as raid bosses. As soon as the raid battle for Ho-Oh ended, the one for Groudon has surfaced. Groudon was announced along with "Pokemon GO's" new dynamic weather function.

According to Niantic Labs, Groudon is now available worldwide. "Keep an eye out for Groudon at gyms near you, and you may be one of the first to catch this Legendary Pokemon," Niantic wrote.

It is said that Groudon is one of the strongest legendary Pokemon to be available for battle in the game.

As a raid boss, Groudon has the max CP of 51968 and a raid pass is required to battle it. It is advisable to bring Water, Grass, or Icy-type Pokemon given that Groudon is a ground-type one. Groudon's fast attacks are Dragon Tail and Mud Shot. Gamers should look out for the charge assaults like Earthquake and Fire Blast.

Catching Groudon is easy as shown in a few raid battle videos by users. The max capture cp of the legendary Pokemon is 2785. In most raids, gamers make use of Pokemon like Gyarados, Exeggutor, Articuno, and Vaporeon. Groudon can be fought in a raid battle and be caught until Jan. 15, 2018.

Niantic Labs has not released any news or announcements about upcoming legendary Pokemon to be released next. Gamers are also waiting for the launch of "Pokemon GO's" Christmas event for 2017. The game developer is yet to announce the content and features for this year's event.
