Is "The Real Housewives of New York" about to get a new addition to the cast when it comes back for season 8? Recently, a well-known celebrity revealed that she was asked to join the Bravo reality series and that a current cast member reached out to her via email, asking her if she would be interested in joining the show.

On Monday, Aug. 17, Jenny McCarthy told her listeners on her SiriusXM radio show that Bethenny Frankel had asked her if she wanted to become the Bravo show's newest housewife, according to E! News. McCarthy said that the Skinnygirl founder reached out to her over email trying to gauge her interest.

"She said, 'Hi Jenny,' and I thought, 'Oh my God, that's so weird, I'm watching the housewives of New York right now," said the comedienne.

She added that Frankel asked her if she wanted to join the show, and while she is a fan of the series, the possibility of becoming part of the reality show posed a challenge.

"I like watching the drama," she said. "The problem is I'd have to go in with a choice and that is to be the peaceful warrior or the [expletive] starter, and I don't know which one I'd enjoy doing."

The 42-year-old star also jokingly said that she would join and then stop paying her taxes.

The star took to her Twitter account on Monday to ask her followers if they could see her as a Real Housewife of New York. Her fans appeared to be divided on whether this would be a good gig for McCarthy, with one follower telling her that she would bring a "positive/ funny vibe to the show" if ever she decided to be in it, while another said that while the "Housewives" shows are fun to watch, "it seems like all they want is drama and that is not you."

McCarthy is married to Donnie Wahlberg, and the couple star in A&E's reality series "Donnie Loves Jenny." She was formerly married to actor/ director John Mallory Asher, and they are parents to son Evan Joseph. She was a co-host of "The View" from 2013 to 2014. McCarthy is also an activist promoting research into environmental causes and alternative medical treatments for autism.
