Fans won't be seeing "Red Dead Redemption 2" anytime soon, if the latest reports are to be believed. The long-awaited sequel is not going to be showcased in June, as gamers initially expected it will be.

Previous rumors suggested that fans will get the first look at the highly anticipated Western shooter by Rockstar at the coming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) next month.

However, as the day grows closer, reports about "Red Dead Redemption 2" skipping the event have started to emerge. According to the grapevine, the decision was partly due to the declining number of spectators at the event.

There's also the fact that Take-Two Interactive, which owns Rockstar, takes a long time to put out flagship titles such as "Red Dead Redemption."

However, it's been six years since the original installment was released. For those familiar with Rockstar's work, they take more than that to put together a sequel.

"Red Dead Redemption 2" is all but confirmed, with Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick announcing back in 2014 that the franchise is "permanent" like "Grand Theft Auto."

Despite this, it seems like it will take a long while before fans hear about a new "Red Dead Redemption" game. Take-Two takes pride in its franchises and isn't a fan of releasing a new one annually.

"It's tempting to have continuous releases and milk a franchise as far as you can, [but] we've seen that fatigue in other franchises in the games industry. With almost every single franchise for us, the latest release is bigger than the one before," Strauss said early this year.

From the looks of it, Rockstar is doing its best to make "Red Dead Redemption 2" a game that's worth the wait. Whether or not that will take more years or months, fans will simply just have to wait and see.

"Red Dead Redemption 2" has been rumored boundlessly in the past, with speculations suggesting that a new protagonist is taking the helm.
