Everyone was delighted when Hollywood prime actor Robert Downey, Jr. seemed to have said in The Ellen DeGeneres Show that there would be an "Iron Man 4" movie. However, the delight turned into disappointment when hours later, the actor announced in the Late Show With David Letterman that there are no plans for a fourth film in the "Iron Man" series.

Although Downey said that he will not star in another "Iron Man" movie, he confirmed that he will still work with Marvel Studios in another project.

"There's no plans for an Iron Man 4...There's no script for Iron Man 4...But I'm gonna do other stuff with Marvel. I'm still gonna be involved with Marvel," Downey said.

It is most likely that Downey will wear the Iron Man suit again alongside other Avengers in another film – Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawk Eye.

Meanwhile, although Robert Downey Jr. is famous for his role as Tony Stark in the Marvel Universe, he has another blockbuster hit under his belt – Sherlock Holmes. During a Reddit AMA session aimed to promote his new film, "The Judge," the actor announced that there are plans for a third film in the Sherlock Holmes film adaptation.

"Yes, we have a Sherlock 3 in development. We want it to be the best of the series, so that's a pretty tall order," he said.

However, the man behind the film, Guy Ritchie, currently has his hands full with other projects as he is wrapping up the spy thriller "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." and will work on a film entitled "Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur" slated for 2016.

Thus, this hints that "Sherlock Holmes 3" could be released in 2017. The first two films starred Robert Downey Jr. as the famous London detective, Jude Law as Watson, Rachel McAdams as Irene Adler, and Jared Harris as Professor Moriarty.
