Samsung announced a new gadget for the whole family, the Galaxy Tab A.

The tech giant introduced the newest addition to the company's Galaxy portfolio on Thursday, saying that the Tab A is an everyday, versatile gadget that is designed for both parents and kids.

The new tablet sports a refined design that is comfortable to hold, what with its 8-inch 1280 x 800-pixel display contained on a sleek metal frame and smooth rounded edges.

"At Samsung, we constantly work to deliver meaningful innovation that delights our customers and meets their unique needs," said Alanna Cotton, Samsung Electronics America vice president and general manager of product marketing.

The Android 7.11 Nougat-powered device has an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel shooter up front.

With its long-lasting battery at 5,000 mAh, users can easily watch movies, play games, browse through social media, and more in just a single charge that could last up to 14 hours.

The tablet also features a bright and immersive display that will allow for trouble-free browsing and viewing in broad daylight. Meanwhile, its optional blue light filter can balance brightness and thus reduce eyestrain when the tablet is being used at night or in dim light indoor settings.

"The Galaxy Tab A is designed for parents and kids. It's the tablet that's just as easy to take on the go or curl up with on the couch, with long-lasting battery life to get the whole family through the day," Cotton added.

As for storage, users can keep more apps and other content in the Galaxy Tab A with its 32 GB of built-in storage and expandable memory of up to 256 GB.

The new tablet comes with a Kids Mode feature, which allows free download of popular kiddie applications like "Lego Batman: Beyond Gotham," "BRIO World — Railway" and more. Those who purchase will also receive a free three months of YouTube Red.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A will be available in two color options — black and silver. It can be purchased on its website for $229.99 starting Nov. 1.
