San Antonio Spurs free agency, trade rumors 2016: team's new Big 3 to be led by Stephen Curry?

The San Antonio Spurs is reportedly building a new Big 3 to increase their chances in getting the next NBA championship.

The team's current Big 3 is composed of power forward/center Tim Duncan, shooting guard Manu Ginobili, and point guard Tony Parker. But since Duncan already announced his 19-year NBA career's end last season, the Spurs might build another set of Big 3 among the younger players of the league.

There are speculations that the Spurs camp will attempt to lure the two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry to their roster. The Golden State Warriors point guard is believed to be moving to another team if his new partnership with Kevin Durant will not work out, and the Spurs could be one of the teams that could be considered.

Curry could be developed to play alongside small forward Kawhi Leonard and power forward/center LaMarcus Aldridge. These three players might be the next Spurs Big 3.

Meanwhile, other rumors claim that the unrestricted free agent Thomas Robinson is being eyed by the Spurs for the next NBA season.

Robinson, last seen in the Brooklyn Nets roster as the team's power forward, could be thrown in the mix of several basketball veterans including Aldridge, Pau Gasol, as well as Matt Bonner to improve his game.

During his stint with the Nets, Robinson managed to get an average of 4.3 points and 5.1 rebounds per game during the 71 games that he played with the team.

Other possible Spurs acquisition is Los Angeles Clippers Blake Griffin, who will be joining the 2017 NBA free agency market. If the Spurs could nab Griffin out of the other teams that expressed their intention to get him, he could be a very welcome addition to help their shot for the next NBA championship.
