The San Francisco 49ers, led by quarterback Blaine Gabbert, snapped a two-game losing streak last Sunday and scored a huge 26–20 overtime victory over the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field.

San Francisco faced a lot of setbacks this year, especially at the quarterback position with franchise passer Colin Kaepernick struggling, losing the starting job to Gabbert, and being placed on injured reserve due to a torn left labrum.

Since Gabbert took over the starting quarterback position, the 49ers have been 2–2 and again, he played well against the Bears.

Gabbert started to make his presence felt in the game when he tied it 20–20 in the fourth quarter, rushing for a 44-yard touchdown to send it to overtime.

In the extra period, Gabbert sealed the win for San Francisco finding wide receiver Torrey Smith for a 71-yard game-winning touchdown pass.

"It was set up by all the throws we had underneath early on in the game, all the runs we ran out of that formation," Gabbert said about the winning pass, according to ESPN.

"It worked perfectly. Torrey did a great job tracking the ball in the air and using his speed to outrun everybody," the 26-year-old quarterback added.

The victory improved the 49ers' record to 4–8, tying the St. Louis Rams in the National Football Conference (NFC) West. Still, they are last in the division and are likely looking at another losing season.

In four games played this season, Gabbert has proven to be a great revelation for the 49ers and can help the team win in their remaining regular season games.

This 2015 season, Gabbert has a total of 80 completions for 963 yards and five touchdowns, also throwing three interceptions.

The 49ers still have four games ahead of them before closing the season and these are against the Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions, and the St. Louis Rams.
