Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and President Fitzgerald Grant's (Tony Goldwyn) may have to keep their relationship a secret, at least for a while, in the upcoming season of ABC's "Scandal."

After promos of their steamy reunion were released, fans are looking forward for the pair to admit their connection in public and just enjoy the moment. Fitz also serving Mellie (Bellamy Young) their divorce papers certainly gives the impression that the POTUS is finally ready to pursue a serious relationship with Liv. While the timing seems right, however, it appears that Fitz and Liv will have to keep their affair under wraps as Mellie is out for revenge.

Hollywood Life reports that the president's wife will not go down without a fight after getting walking papers from her husband. In an interview, Young said that although Fitz will succeed in throwing her character out of the White House, she will still find a way to get back to him.

The actress said, "I can't imagine her saying, 'Well, I accept.' I hope ultimately that Mellie is president and Fitz is by her side and he loves her so much and they've weathered the Olivia storm, and now they're together and it's happiness."

Well, it appears that Mellie will be using her power to cause trouble for Fitz and Liv. A scandal at this point will not bode well for the president, and she knows this well. If Liv is as savvy as she portrays herself to be in the series, she will make sure that Mellie will not get the chance to ruin her lover in the public's eye, even if it means keeping her and their love a secret.

Meanwhile, the synopsis released by ABC states that Liv will be busy with a job proposal from the Queen of Caldonia (Dearbhla Molloy). In one of the promo photos, Fitz can be seen talking to the monarch in an ultra sophisticated party. Their conversation, however, is cut short when tragedy strikes right at the shindig, and it has something to with the Queen and her family.

Hypable reveals that Her Highness will ask Liv's help to make sure that the Royal family's private life stays private. From how it sounded, it seems like the job is a full-time one, which means Liv would not have much time to play hooky with her president lover. Will she be able to do her new job well, or will her affair distract her?

"Scandal" season 5 will premiere on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
