Seattle Seahawks roster news 2015: Marshawn Lynch might be out for the season if abdominal injury requires surgery

The Seattle Seahawks are not having the same success they had in the past two seasons this 2015 and might lose a key player, as running back Marshawn Lynch's abdominal injury may cause him to sit out the remainder of the year.

Lynch was unable to play in the Seahawks' 29–13 victory over the San Francisco 49ers Sunday because of the injury and after the game, head coach Pete Carroll shared with reporters that "Beast Mode" will head to Philadelphia Monday to see  Dr. William Meyers.

Meyers is a specialist for sports hernia, according to reports, and even though there is still no official diagnosis regarding Lynch's injury, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported that he may have suffered a sports hernia.

If that is the case, then Lynch will have to undergo surgery which will sideline him for the 2015 season.

The 29-year-old running back was already ruled out by Carroll for their Week 12 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday.

After three consecutive seasons of not missing a game in the regular season, Lynch has been plagued by injuries this 2015 and was limited to only seven games.

In those games, the five-time Pro Bowler only has 111 carries for 417 yards and three touchdowns, very far from the usual production he has had in the past seasons.

However, there is still hope that Lynch will be back this season for Seattle, USA Today Sports reported.

According to the report, orthopedic surgeon Mark Adickes stated, "I think that Dr. Meyers has seen players come back in four weeks, sometimes. It seems like it's usually six when guys get back on the field, but certainly he could be back for the playoffs."

The Seahawks are currently second in the National Football Conference (NFC) West with a 5–5 record, just behind the leaders Arizona Cardinals who are at 8–2.
