'Star Wars Battlefront 2' leak showcases Emperor Palpatine, droid sidekick

The developers behind "Star Wars Battlefront 2" have been generous in giving fans a sneak peek at the upcoming title. A recent leaked footage revealed a sneak peak to the player's droid sidekick and the infamous Emperor Palpatine.

Early this week, a leaked footage of the game made rounds on the internet. Obviously many scrambled to get every bit of information they can from the short clip.

The clip was a blend of gameplay previews and behind the scenes look. The sort of things people find in a making-of featurette.

It is fairly obvious that the game is far from a finished product. A scene even shows motion-capture scenes being shot in tandem with rough renderings of the characters.

However, there are a few scenes that give fans an idea of what to expect in "Star Wars Battlefront 2." There's the unmistakable visage of Emperor Palpatine being projected on the red-robed character from the previous trailer.

According to VG247, this raises questions regarding the fate of the Sith Lord. Whether he will be a part of the game or merely a plot device remains to be seen.

There's also footage of the companion droid that will be the player's sidekick in-game. With its various appendages dangling under it, it highly resembles the recon droids seen in Empire Strikes Back.

The droid appears to serve mostly as a utility character doing tasks such as opening doors. However, the footage also revealed that the droid has the ability to shock enemies which might be hint of its use in combat.

Finally in addition to the clip, fans were treated to a screenshot of what appears to be the loadout screen. It reveals that not much has changed with abilities still tied to Star Cards.

"Star Wars Battlefront 2" is set to be released on Nov. 17 for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Hopefully, they also include a single-player campaign this time.
