Apparently, Princes William and Harry are too tall to be stormtroopers, as the two had their scene omitted from the final and theatrical cut of "Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi."

The two Princes of the United Kingdom (UK) were supposed to have a part in the iconic stormtrooper army of the franchise's First Order faction but they were overqualified to be foot soldiers of the fictional army. According to the mythos of "Star Wars," stormtroopers were all supposed to be exactly 5'11" since most of them are clones of one person in the franchise's past and perhaps in the current timeline as well.

This was unfortunate for William and Harry since the former is 6'2" and the latter is 6'1" putting them nearly in the same height category as the 6'3" Gwendoline Christie who plays the tall and imposing Captain Phasma of the First Order. Hence the scene of the two princes in stormtrooper attire had to be cut out from the movie which left a lot of fans puzzled and the rest of the cast dismayed.

This was according to news website Daily Mail where the short scene of the two was cut out in the final edit of the movie. In addition, an anonymous source of the website stated to them that "Stormtroopers have to be exactly 5ft 11in. At the time we shot it I think the feeling was that the scene would make the final movie. Everyone feels bad that William and Harry lost out on their big moment. However, the scene just didn't work for the final cut so it was left out."

This was also confirmed by John Boyega who played Finn in the movie. He jokingly stated that the two princes were cut out of the film because they needed to work on their acting skills. Rest assured, they almost had their big movie moment in "The Last Jedi" and was part of filming, albeit only for a short while.
