'Steven Universe' season 3 spoilers: safety of the world is in the hands of Peridot and Steven in new promo

The world is about to end and it's up to Steven and Peridot to prevent this disaster from happening in "Steven Universe" season 3. Cartoon Network has released a new promo for the long-awaited season before it officially launches tomorrow, May 12.

The Cluster is becoming a bigger threat to Steven's world by the minute as it literally increases in size, slowly destroying the planet from the inside.

Crystal Gem's newest member, Peridot, who champions both the spirit of teamwork and slight negativity in the "Steven Universe" season 3 promo, tells Steven that they need to drill down into the Earth's core.

Through this, they will be able to reach the location of the growing Cluster, allowing them to demolish it before it instead bursts and eventually obliterates everything that exists.

The tougher part is that they are the only ones who can help each other out. When "Steven Universe" season 3 premieres, the rest of the Crystal Gem—Garnet, Pearl and Amethyst—are stuck in Gem Island, unable to help.

After poorly and barely convincing themselves that what they are about to do will work, Steven and Peridot prepares to put their scheme in motion, only for the quake-generating threat to make climbing down the stairs a challenge already.

It is possible that Homeworld Gem and Peridot's former master Yellow Diamond is pulling the strings behind this crisis in order to get back at Peridot. Although the Cluster has always been there, Yellow Diamond may have found a way to use it to her advantage.

Peridot and Yellow Diamond aren't in the best terms when they parted ways in the previous season of "Steven Universe." Peridot chose to side with her master's enemies and Yellow Diamond wasn't very happy about it. Because of this, she vowed to bring destruction to the Crystal Gems.

"Steven Universe" season 3 will kick off with its "In Too Deep" arc, which is composed of five episodes. It will premiere with two back-to-back episodes, titled "Super Watermelon" and "Gem Drill" tomorrow at 7 p.m. ET on Cartoon Network.

The remaining episodes will then be aired every week for three weeks.
