The midseason finale of "Suits" shocked many people when Mike (Patrick J. Adams), hoping to start over with a clean slate, turned in his resignation letter, only to be arrested for fraud as he was leaving the building. Harvey (Gabriel Macht) also resigned from Pearson Specter Litt to stop Hardman (David Costabile) from taking over the firm.

The new developments in the series will prove to be life-changing for Mike when the show returns, and all the people around him will be affected as well. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, show creator Aaron Korsch said they decided to have Mike arrested either at the end of season 4 or the beginning of season 5. Since the series premiere, one of the main premises of the show has been how Mike has been hiding the fact that he's not really a lawyer.

"It felt like the right thing to do; you can only keep this thing under wraps for so long," said Korsch of Mike's secret.

Korsch said that people have asked him if there will be a revelation as to who turned Mike in when the show returns, and he said that the identity of the culprit will be found out in future episodes of season 5.

When the show returns for the final six episodes of the season, Korsch told Yahoo! that it will pick up moments where it left off. He revealed that they have thought about a six-month time jump for episode 11, but eventually decided to revert to their "standard practice of moments later."

"Episode 511 is called 'Blowback '— that would be a good thematic title for the last six [episodes]. I feel like this is a course-change for 'Suits'," said Korsch.

And while the first half of season five was all about Harvey, viewers can expect the second half to focus on Mike, as Korsch told THR that what happened to the character will have an impact on everyone in the firm and on his relationship with Rachel (Meghan Markle).

"We're going to have insights into him and how he handles this from hereon in," said Korsch about Mike.

"Suits" returns to USA Network in early 2016.
