ABC's drama television series "The Good Doctor" will resume on Jan. 8, 2018. The first half of season 1 received mixed reviews from critics and a Golden Globe Awards nomination.

The show's creators have not released any information about episode 11 that will air on Jan. 8, 2018 at 10 p.m. on ABC yet. The winter finale episode ended with Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) experiencing a meltdown and Jared Kalu (Chuku Modu) being fired. The show also welcomed actor Eric Winter who portrays the talented doctor Matt Coyle, who happens to mean bad news for some main characters.

The show received both positive and negative feedback from fans and critics. The drama series got a 55 percent rating from Rotten Tomatoes and a 3 out of 5 stars from Common Sense Media. Several comments on TvLine about the midseason finale indicate that the show did an amazing job in its first 10 episodes so far.

Despite the negative comments, the show managed to be part of the prestigious Oscar Awards in 2018 -- technically not the entire show, but its main star. Highmore is nominated for a Golden Globe Award in the category Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama.

Highmore is up for the award with Jason Bateman from "Ozark," Sterling Brown from "This Is Us," Bob Odenkirk from "Better Call Saul," and Liev Schreiber from "Ray Donovan."

This is the first-ever Golden Globe Awards nomination for Highmore. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association found Highmore's performance as a brilliant surgeon diagnosed with autism engaging.

Highmore also serves as one of the show's producers. During an interview with "Good Morning America," Highmore said working with the entire team of the show is an amazing experience for him. "It's a wonderful show, just you know, didn't think I'd be so lucky as to have another thing so brilliant come along so quickly."
