'The Twilight Saga' continues with six short films; Nikki Reed to return?

Just like its vampire characters, "The Twilight Saga" will be resurrected in six new mini-movies.

When "Twilight" author Stephanie Meyer announced a new project dubbed as "The Storytellers: New Voices of the Twilight Saga" in order to promote aspiring female directors in the film industry, there was a surge of submissions of screenplays featuring a minor character in the highly popular young adult series.

Out of 1,200 submissions, Meyer, Kristin Stewart, Lionsgate, Women in Film, Facebook and Volvo handpicked six screenplays. The main criterion is that the story should precede the "Twilight" movies. Precognitive and quirky vampire Alice Cullen proved to be popular among the mix.

Entertainment Weekly revealed the six winners and a short description of the screenplays.

  • "We've Met Before" by Thea Green is all about Alice and Jasper's first meeting.
  • "Turncoats" by Lindsey Hancock Williamson is about Garrett and Carlisle during the Revolutionary War.
  • "Consumed" by Cullyn Doerfler and Megan L. Reese tells Jane and Alec's story.
  • "Sunrise" by Alanna Smith tells Benjamin's story.
  • "The Groundskeeper" by Sarah Turi Boshear follows the events that led to Alice becoming a vampire.
  • "The Mary Alice Brandon File" by Kailey and Sam Spear, a story about Alice before she became a vampire.

The directors to take the helm are yet to be decided. While the actors in the "Twilight" movies are not on board yet, Nikki Reed, who played the role of the feisty yet loyal Rosalie Hale, said in an interview that she will be willing to bring her character back to life.

"I loved that period of my life. I'm not involved in it as of now - at some point I might be, who knows," Reed told Movie Pilot

There is no confirmation from the other actors whether they will reprise their blood sucking roles in a new round of "Twilight" movies. More importantly, Meyer has not spoken who will be cast to play the parts.
