'The Vampire Diaries' season 6 spoilers: Dead characters not coming back but Originals cast to appear

The cast and show runner of "The Vampire Diaries" series graced the recent Comic Con 2014 event in San Diego and spilled some exciting news about the upcoming season 6 of the hit TV show.

The main question centered on whether Damon (Ian Somehalder) and Bonnie (Kat Graham) will come back next season. The final episode of the previous season of "The Vampire Diaries" showed the alleged deaths of Damon and Bonnie after they went on with their Project Kaboom to put a halt on The Other Side.

At the Comic Con, Julie Plec dropped the sad news that characters who have died can no longer come back. But she teased that the writers of the series were able to make them come back. The executive producer also said that the series will return showing a four month time jump.

At the same event, Nina Dobrev sat in the panel and revealed that her character, Elena, is not in a happy place and that she has strange and confusing ways to deal with her grief.

The fifth season of TVD showed a very shocking finale. Although TVD executive producer Julie Plec initially confirmed that Damon and Bonnie will be back in one form or another next season. The show runner did not leak any hint on how the two will appear in the series next season.

However, the executive producer's latest statements suggested that Damon may not come back next season. It may happen that Damon will appear next season as a memory or in flashback.

Meanwhile, Julie Plec said some of the Originals characters will come to Mystic Falls. She explained that the writers and execs are always "talking about different paths" that can be taken to allow crossovers. However, the show runner has not revealed additional information about the appearance of the Originals character.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 6 will be back on air on Oct. 2 at 8/7 on The CW.
