It seems Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) is still alive and walking instead of being a walking dead as previous reports suggested. This is based on the graphic novel's creator's remarks that may have contained hints that Carl has survived.

Robert Kirkman, creator of "The Walking Dead," has stated that Carl may still be alive and the viewers of the show should set their expectations accordingly. He also claimed that Carl's death may have repercussions that are too big for some characters to handle, especially his father Rick (Andrew Lincoln).

"He's not dead yet. He might not die. You never know. But I think if that were that to happen, I think that it would have some interesting ramifications on Rick that I think would energise and really kind of set things in motion in a really interesting way leading to the resolution of All Out War; in a way that will make for a very exciting back half to season eight. So I think it's going to be really cool," said Kirkman. This means that while Carl still being alive is a possibility, the show's plot might have to pave way for his death, basically making it even necessary.

Kirkman also added that his graphic novel might not follow suit with what the show did with Carl since making Carl's death a big turning point and would affect the show in a detrimental way. He also did not even expect Carl to be killed off in television and the move came as quite a surprise to him.

It can be recalled that during the show's midseason finale, Carl revealed a Walker bite to his devastated father, essentially implying that his fate is sealed and will die. There is also the fact that Riggs, Carl's actor, has said his farewells to his co-stars and is now pursuing a music career.

Hence, fans expecting Carl to be back and still alive will have to take Kirkman's remarks with a grain of salt.
