Marvel's upcoming flick "Thor: Ragnarok" might cast a new female character, and word has it that Cate Blanchett is one of the choices.

According to Variety, sources said that Marvel Studios is currently negotiating for Blanchett to star in the movie. Marvel has yet to deny nor confirm the rumors.

What the 46-year-old "Carol" actress will be playing as was not disclosed, although Variety mentioned that she will play a lead role.

Based on Blanchett's physical features, she would most likely play the role of Valkyrie, according to MoviePilot.

Valkyrie is an Asgardian warrior handpicked by Odin to lead a team of female human warriors, as noted in the report. She belongs to both Defenders and Avengers.

Blanchett bears physical characteristics that resemble the heroine and she is considered the most appropriate actor to take on the role.

Not only is Blanchett considered as a potential Valkyrie, but she can also be cast as a villain like Enchantress or Queen Hela. Then again, these are only speculations and the studio has yet to make a comment.

Meanwhile, a report from CinemaBlend stated that Chris Hemsworth, who plays the titular character in the movie franchise, also shared who among the co-stars in his other movies would play the villain role in "Thor: Ragnarok" best.

With Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain as his choices, Hemsworth nominated Chastain to be the best woman to play Thor's enemy.

Fans will just have to stay tuned for more updates on the casting for the movie.

"Thor: Ragnarok" is directed by Taika Waiti and the script is written by Christopher Yost and recently revised by Stephany Folsom, as stated in Variety.

If Blanchett or Chastain should join the cast, they will work alongside Mark Ruffalo as Hulk and Tom Hiddleston as Loki.

"Thor: Ragnarok" will arrive in theaters on Nov. 3, 2017.
