Viewers will see Ray (Colin Farrell) and Frank (Vince Vaughn) engaged in a violent showdown in the upcoming episode of HBO's crime drama series "True Detectives."

In "Church in Ruins," Cartermatt reports the entrepreneur-turned-criminal will accuse the detective of setting him up in the terrible situation he is in. Meanwhile, Ani (Rachel McAdams) will be using someone close to her in an important operation. With only three episodes left in season 2, the website warns there will be a lot of drama and surprises, possibly even death.

After a quick glimpse of deadly shootout, the last episode jumps ahead by more than two months. Ray had quit the force and was trying to patch things up with his son. He then appeared working as security for Frank, who was fully back to his criminal ways.

As for the other two, Ani and Paul (Taylor Kitsch), things were also going downhill. The female detective was officially demoted to the evidence room. Paul was being investigated for fraud, and his mother just told him the $20,000 savings he brought home from Afghanistan was gone. On top of it all, she revealed to him that she knew he was gay all along.

Both Ani and Paul were eager to reopen the Caspere murder, although the higher ups have long decided that the case was closed after the "suspects" were killed in the shootout. They need Ray, obviously, but the senior detective only agreed to join the investigation if they help him get his son back.

But there came the rub. Ray found out that the man who raped his wife was already in prison, and the photo of the "rapist" that Frank gave him before was fake. At the end of the episode, Ray could be seen banging on Frank's door, demanding why he sent him to kill the wrong man.

"True Detective" airs Sundays at 9 p.m. EST on HBO.
