'Walking Dead' season 6 spoilers: Jon Hamm to join cast as Negan?

With a good six months away before 'Walking Dead' Season 6 returns, rumors have already started flying on what to expect. Season 5 ended recently with Morgan reuniting with Rick and the gang as they try to make Alexandria their safe respite.

Moving on however, there could be a good chance that character familiar to comic book fans would be joining the group next season. The character in mention is Negan.

If the comic book version is to be followed, Negan was responsible for killing one of the major characters, Glenn. Negan apparently bashes the head of Glenn with a barbed-wire covered baseball bat which is named as Lucille.

However, the comics saw the entry of Negan on the 100th issue. As far as the TV series is concerned, there are about 20 more issues to go before they are able to reach that point when Negan would be making his first appearance. Should that be the case, Negan could enter the scene sometime in the latter part of season 6 or the early stages of season 7.

Should that be the case, who would be taking on the role of Negan? A prime name that has been cropping up is Jan Hamm of Mad Men.

Executive producer Rick Kirkman did say sometime last year that Hamm would be perfect to take on the role of Negan although he remained apprehensive on whether Hamm would be open to the idea for the said part.

But in a recent interview with MTV, it seems Hamm is open to take on the role should it be offered to him by Kirkman. In the same interview, Hamm may have hinted that he would be willing to sit down and discuss the role.

'Walking Dead' Season' 6 will return to AMC in October, 2015.
