When it comes to any kind of fighting game in any kind of genre especially in brawler-type games, players would expect to learn a lot of combos to beat the enemy. However, that is not the case for "Way of the Passive Fist." It seems a much peaceful and funny way to beat opponents and it gives a new take on the genre.

Made with early 90's games as an inspiration, the game is all about the defense rather than the offense. One could probably say that the game may have stretched the saying "the best offense is a good defense." The only way to beat the enemy is to use counters and parries. After all, it is the "Way of the Passive Fist."

Even then, players could probably expect some good moves after a counter. However, the game just gets more absurd. Enemies get knocked back and die to the player's light-feather touch after a successful counter or parry. There are punches here and there but not a massive kind of punch gamers would probably expect.

Some players could imagine it being like Saitama from the famous "One-Punch Man" anime and manga. Saitama would only attack when necessary, and the same goes for when doing defensive moves in the game. Like Saitama, most of the monsters get beaten in just, quite aptly, one punch.

"This isn't your typical action arcade brawler since button mashing won't get you far and it's all about timing defensive moves," developer Jason Canam already warns its players. While understandably, focusing on defense may actually take some skill, players can adjust the difficulty setting in the game.

"Way of the Passive Fist" will be made available on March 7, 2018 for PC and Xbox One. PlayStation 4 players will be able to get a day earlier — on March 6.
