The Women's World Cup 2015 Final takes place on Sunday and will see the USA face off against Japan in what amounts to a repeat of the final four years ago when the United States women's soccer team were sent home in tears after losing on penalties. They will be desperate to reverse that result this weekend, but face a Japan side that has won every game so far this tournament and seem to always find a way to win.

Sunday's Women's World Cup Final 2015 soccer game kicks off at 7 p.m. ET and can be watched on TV on Fox or online through live stream via the link below.

In the Women's World Cup Final in 2011 the United States had the game won twice, but surrendered two leads to end the game locked at 2-2. That inability to hold onto their leads ultimately cost them the biggest prize as they lost the game on penalty kicks, and the result is sure to still sting the USA team players today.

The United States missed their first three penalty kicks in that now infamous shoot out, and many said they had choked with the cup in their grasp.

But even though that final must still haunt them today, they will want to finally put to rest the ghost of 2011 and win their third Women's World Cup title in 2015.

Abby Wambach has insisted that this year's final is not about revenge for her team. She insists that the players are not interested at all in any type of payback, but simply have their eyes set on the title - one that they have not won since way back in 1999 now.

Wambach has said, "Heartbreak never goes away but now we have an opportunity, and it's not about revenge or avenging that loss because this team is different. I feel an air of confidence (for the World Cup final)."

However, she added, "But we don't overlook Japan for one second because they are very, very organized and a good team."

Japan meanwhile also have their painful memories of meeting the United States, having missed out on the gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games, losing to the USA in the final.

Japan's captain Aya Miyama has said, "That bitter feeling I had that day has stayed with me for the past three years."

There is so much recent history between these two teams that emotions will surely be overflowing when the players take to the pitch on Sunday. However, whether USA can claim their first title since 1999, or whether Japan can win their second consecutive title remains to be seen.

Sunday's Women's World Cup 2015 Final between the USA and Japan has a scheduled start time of 7 p.m. ET and can be watched on TV on the Fox network or online through live stream by clicking here.
