WWE news 2015: Alberto Del Rio advances but may fall against Roman Reigns

As expected, Alberto Del Rio defeated Kalisto in a match where the U.S. champion was the obvious favorite.

Of course, there were some anxious to see if Kalisto could pull off a similar upset he did against Ryback but sadly, such was not the case. And with that said, it will be an interesting collision between the returning World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) star and the man being built to lead the company after WWE Survivor Series, Roman Reigns.

The easy money is, of course, to see Reigns advance, although this match needs some additional drama to make sure Reigns does not draw the ire of WWE fans in the same way he did earlier this year at the WWE Royal Rumble.

The matchup is perfect and would have passed as the finale for the WWE heavyweight title but right now, it is believed by many that it will likely turn out to be a Reigns vs. Dean Ambrose finale, although tweaks after WWE Smackdown could still happen.

Reigns could fall and so could Ambrose (against Kevin Owens). It is unlikely that both will fall in the event the WWE decides for a change but surely, there will be one former member of Shield succeeding the already fallen former member, Seth Rollins.

For Del Rio, setting his sights on the WWE heavyweight plum is grand, but the thing is he already has the U.S. title around his waist. So how will things pan out when he meets Reigns?

Right now, there is no one rivaling with Reigns, so an interference resulting from someone who has interest in the U.S. title is highly unlikely.

True enough, it would be surprising to see Del Rio score one over Reigns in the semifinal matchup; hence, unless there is something the WWE creative team has in mind that would be for the good of the company, the outcome of this setto is more or less known.

The only thing left to be seen right now is how it will turn out. Such is the case with the Owens vs. Ambrose match as well.
