'Narcos' season 2 spoilers and release date; series without a showrunner

"Narcos" is speculated to return for its sophomore season in August this year, but there's a possibility that the crime drama series' release may be pushed back to a much later date due to problems arising in the showrunner position.

According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, season 2 showrunner Adam Fierro has left his position, leaving the seat open. Fierro took the showrunner's position when season 1 leader Chris Brancato left earlier in 2015.

Without a showrunner leading the writers' room, speculations are rife that the series will be experiencing problems and release date may be further delayed. Although Fierro may have left his post, he already carried out his obligations under contract, Latin Post gathered.

As of current, the showrunner position is left vacant, but writer-producers Jose Padilha and Eric Newman will step in as the show's executive producers and will oversee a team of writers. Entertainment Weekly gathered that no one specific will be appointed as official showrunner for the entire season 2.

"Narcos" is a Netflix original series based on the life of Colombian drug kingpin Paolo Escobar. The show debuted in August 2015 and was well-received by the audience that it was renewed for another season.

There is no official release date for the second season, but if releasing of new episodes will follow the previous date, it's likely that "Narcos" season 2 will air in August this year.

Since the show is based on history, everyone knows the fate of Paolo and it's easy to predict what happens next in the show. As previously reported, season 2 is said to focus more on Paolo's escape from the authorities and, unsurprisingly, he might also meet his demise.

If this plot rumor proves to be true, the entire series will be short-lived. However, there were also reports stating that the series could last longer as it will focus on those times when Paolo was in hiding.
