When it comes to blessings, we always love being at the receiving end. However, when we realise that Jesus has given us overflowing blessings, we will stop focusing on chasing after blessings and instead start chasing opportunities to be a blessing for others.

God calls us to bless others because He has lavishly blessed us. 2 Corinthians 9:11 tells us, "You will be enriched in every way, to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God."

When we come to realise just how blessed we already are in Christ Jesus, we will seek out opportunities to channel His overflow in our lives to others, and one opportunity you can do so is in the workplace.

Out of the abundance of a heart filled with the joy, provision and satisfaction that comes from Jesus, the Holy Spirit empowers us now to be a light in the darkest places. Sometimes it can feel like your office is void of the blessing and presence of God, but you can be a light in your office. Being a witness to the corporate world goes beyond sharing God's Word, although that is important. It calls us also to walk the talk and show God's love to others.

Here are 12 practical ways on how you can become a blessing to people in your workplace.

1. Find lesser things to grumble about and focus more on things that you can be thankful and positive about.

2. When you see a problem, don't jump on that bandwagon and be part of it. Challenge yourself to become the solution.

3. Stop making things about you. Be a team player and trust your workmates and your leaders to do their job. If they fail, know that God is still in control.

4. It can often be tempting to get into conversations that put down others, but nothing can be more destructive than a gossiping tongue.

5. Serve your boss. There's no need to be the manager's pet, but you can unconditionally serve without asking for favours.

6. Say no to perks when it challenges your integrity or people's perception of you. Honouring God is your ultimate reward anyways, and all perks are just secondary.

7. Be there for your co-workers.

8. Challenge disunity and fight for unity. Find ways to always be in the middle ground and be the peacemaker.

9. Work excellently and be on the lookout to go the extra mile.

10. Start coming to work and to meetings on time.

11. Don't forget to honour the Sabbath. Being a grumpy and tired co-worker is never a good thing.

12. Find opportunities to be generous and to share your blessings with others. While you grow in giving, you will realise more and more how you cannot outgive God.
