Although the first season of "13 Reasons Why" ended with Hannah Baker's (Katherine Langford) death, the high school sophomore will still be a big part of season 2. In fact, Langford revealed that she is actually doing more than expected in the second run.

In The Hollywood Reporter's Next Generation talent issue, the actress shared that the extent of her role came as a surprise. It is still unclear how her character would play into the second season. However, her scenes in the new episodes are just as challenging as they were in the previous ones.

"Most of my set time has been on one show that is very intense," Katherine said. This is why she "slept a lot and was usually just very quiet," to deal.

The first season of Netflix's breakout Young Adult series ended with the final reason from Hannah's tapes. There is no follow up to the Jay Asher's novel where it is based on, so many have been asking what more there is to say next season.

Early on, it was announced that "13 Reasons Why" season 2 would focus on other's perspectives, not just Hannah's. Langford would also no longer narrate. Despite these, showrunner Brian Yorkey told the same publication in a separate interview that she is still very much the center of the story.

"One of the things that is a fundamental element of our show is the weaving of past and the present," he explained. "Hannah's story is still very much not finished. She's an integral part of whatever the next chapter of the story is."

Season 2 picks up where the pilot run left off: in the aftermath of Hannah's suicide and the start of the rest of the character's complicated journeys toward healing and recovery.

Production for the second season kicked off this summer. It was temporarily halted last month due to the forest fires ravaging the Northern California location where the series is filming. It has no specific release date, but 13 new episodes could hit Netflix as early as Spring 2018.
