General Motors has given the usual 4-door sedan a sporty look with its Chevrolet Volt. The new car has ample space at the back which you can take advantage of simply by folding the rear seats down to an almost flat position. Even the back panel has been well thought of. Instead of glass, it is made of plastic, as well as its side panels.

Darin Gesse, Volt Product Manager, told Slash Gear that its lower rear design takes after the Corvette.

The new Chevrolet Volt looks more refined now, in the sense that all its design elements flow seamlessly making each part of the car look well integrated and aerodynamic.

"The new Volt was designed with having the sheetmetal molded with the wind in mind," Gesse told Slash Gear, "so that it's kinda like how sands were molded in the desert by the wind."

Inside, the Chevrolet Volt gets more interesting. Everything you see inside the car, from its display and lighting, gives it a superior electric car feel.

The 8-inch diagonal LED display at the center is customizable depending on what control the driver needs. It also has pinch and zoom capability that matches the 8-inch customizable diagonal color instrument panel in-front of the steering wheel. The Chevrolet Volt also provides internet connectivity with its 4G LTE WI-FI.

The seats are spacious and are designed for comfort. It even provides heating for the seats which is powered by fewer battery cells that weighs 21lbs lesser than the previous model.

The Chevrolet Volt also boast of its technology which uses a 1.5L SIDI high-efficiency engine that kicks in whenever you run out of battery. It also gives greater value for the regular unleaded gas, using an estimated 41 MPG that is able to take you out for a ride of up to 420 miles.

The Chevrolet Volt also values safety as evident in its features. The Lane Keep Assist uses sensors that keeps your car in the right lane and and steers you back into it whenever you veer away from it. The Rear Cross Traffic Alert on the other hand assist you every time you back up your car from a parking lot or a driveway. The Forward Safety Awareness feature uses camera vision to inform you if there are cars slowing down in front of you and even puts on the break on its own to help you from crashing your car. It also packs 10 airbags within the car that has 360-degrees sensing ability that adjusts itself depending on the impact of the crash.

The new Chevrolet Volt is proving to be a worthy purchase. While the car is now available for purchase in California at $33,995, other states may have to wait for it to be sold in their area until next year.
