2017 Camaro ZL1 price, specs: Car to sell for $62,000, boasts 650 horsepower

Chevrolet

The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is highly anticipated by car enthusiasts. As such, everyone wants to know what the car can offer before they consider purchasing it.

According to Car and Driver, the car has a 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine, which will produce 650 horsepower. This is 10 more horsepower than what Chevrolet estimated the first time, and with this it can be comparable to the one possessed by the Corvette Z06. However, the newer Corvette ZR1 still has more than 700 horsepower, so this Chevrolet will still have a bit more to go.

Regardless of this level of horsepower, Chevrolet is not that keen on beating the Z06 in terms of performance. This is expected, as the Camaro's additional girth, coupled with the Corvette's role in the line up still has a bit of disparity. However, the new ZL1 is still 220 pounds lighter than its initial design, as claimed by Ford.

These features will make the ZL1 to be one fast car. It is estimated for it to reach 60mph from rest within 3.5 seconds and will pass the quarter-mile pole at 127 mph after 11.4 seconds, provided that it is equipped with the 10-speed automatic transmission. Also, its sticky tires will be expected to ensure that the car will grip the pavement at a maximum of 1.02 g.

With these features, the coupe will cost around $62,000, and its convertible version will cost around $7,000 more, according to Autoweek. This is still reasonable, since it only costs a few thousand more dolars compared to Ford's latest Shelby GT350 and around the same price range as the Dodge Hellcats.

Additionally, for those who want more features for their ZL1 car, the same article notes that Chevrolet also released the pricing for their new 1LE package for their V6- and V8-equipped muscle cars. This will be at $6,500, but it will give the ZL1 Camaro a trick electronic limited slip differential and magnetic ride control.
