Nissan may be coming out with a surprise as far as its Juke model is concerned, although all that could happen in 2018.

Riding high on the success of the first generation Nissan Juke, it seems that the Japanese auto maker may be overhauling the Nissan Juke as it tries to sustain the success it garnered when it was first released.

Nissan Senior Vice President and Chief Creative Officer Shiro Nakamura revealed that they are now brainstorming for a fresh Nissan Juke as they try to meet the expectations of the automotive market. He added that they could follow a different approach and that includes possibly coming up with a hybrid model.

With the rave in the auto industry now on the hybrid model segment, such could prove to be a good move if Nissan is indeed bent on coming up with something special and sustainable for its Nissan Juke line.

There is belief that the Nissan Juke is likely to get a revised look, probably taking its cue from the Gripz. With two years to go before that happens, anything is possible. It seems, however, that the company is bent on redesigning the vehicle that will properly render it in accordance with today's modern vehicles.

Nonetheless, it should be noted that the design is not a major change per Nakamura. While the Juke may very well be based on a new small model architecture (CMF-B), the overall proportions of the Juke will remain intact.

"It will be a next-generation platform, but we have to keep it compact. Size is very important, we do not make the car any larger," said Nakamura in an interview.

Further developments on the Nissan Juke should come in slowly, seeing that there is plenty of time before the supposed new model comes out. Right now, we are scraping the tip of Nissan's plans, although more information could  be revealed in the coming months.
