'Agents of SHIELD' season 4 news: Daisy will be more ruthless

ABC

"Agents of SHIELD" season 3 ended with Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet) forced to leave SHIELD and be declared as a fugitive on the run. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Bennet revealed that the trials of season 3 will have changed Daisy even further and this will reflect how the character moves forward in season 4.

In particular, the third season saw Daisy's one-time love interest Grant Ward (Brett Dalton) turn traitor and his body was later possessed by the Inhuman villain known as Hive. Both Ward and Hive, as one person, died at the end of season 3 when the quinjet exploded in space to prevent a doomsday weapon from destroying Earth.

Losing Grant was not enough as the finale episode also saw the death of Lincoln (Luke Mitchell). Daisy previously believed she would be the one to die, having seen a vision of the future, but at the last moment Lincoln pushed her aside.

"I think it makes her more ruthless being so close to what she thought was her own death," explained Bennet. "And then it happening in one of the worst scenarios she could ever think of, which is the person that she loved doing it for her, I think it changes her in a way where she probably will face life with even more ruthlessness."

As stated in a report from Screen Rant, season 4 will see power shift in the series now that Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) is no longer the Director of SHIELD. This responsibility has been passed down to someone else and it is speculated that Coulson will assist the remaining Inhumans and Daisy despite them being on the wrong side of the law.

This was hinted in the short teaser clip released, teasing Coulson's decision to side with the fugitives.

"Agents of SHIELD" season 4 is already in production and is expected to premieer by Fall this year.
