Amy Duggar is currently on a 21-day fast with her husband Dillon King in hopes of strengthening their marriage and spiritual growth.

"Dillon and I have never fasted before as a couple, so we decided that we would give up television and use that time instead to focus on our marriage," she writes on her blog. "We read together and pray but we don't have a routine down yet!"

The newlyweds started reading a book called "The 5 Love Languages" written by Dr. Gary Chapman, and Amy says the book is so good that they're having a difficult time putting it down.

Personally, Amy also decided to cut back on sweets because "bikini season is coming up" and she wants to feel better about her eating choices. "For 21 looong days I'm going to say no to McDonald's apple pies, Ben & Jerry's (ice cream), and anything carbonated," she says. "The fast started only a week ago and I'm already having some serious withdrawals!"

The aspiring country singer cheekily admitted that she already cheated on the second day and ate a nutty bar, but Amy says her resolve to abstain from sweets has only gotten more serious after that.

"Not only is this fast healthy for us individually, we believe it will strengthen our marriage! The divorce rate is through the roof these days! Cheating on your spouse is an epidemic. In this day of age so many people have the mentality that once the butterflies wear off, couples give up, they stop communicating and they eventually let their relationship dissolve," she says.

Amy and Dillon are determined not to let their marriage die so they are doing whatever they can to protect their "love fern."

"I believe in miracles, I believe God can heal any relationship, and bring it back to a healthy loving union. I believe God can restore families. Jesus is in the restoring business!" she says.
