Although the talk of the town is the upcoming Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the rollout for the Android Lollipop continues. Just recently, Sony dressed up almost every device in its Z series with the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and now, the Japan-based company is back to give away more sweet updates. 

The Sony Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z Ultra can now move up to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The software is being sent out over the air so users rocking these devices should have already received a prompt for the download. NDTV also received a tip that some users of the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual in India are able to update to Android 5.1 Lollipop. 

Speaking of Android 5.1 Lollipop, Verizon just rolled the software out to the original Moto X. Customers who have the 2-year-old handset from the carrier can finally experience the Material Design after being stuck with Android 4.4 KitKat for months. What this means is that owners of the device will see massive changes on their phones, which will now stay on longer, run faster, be bug-free, and be more stable. 

The improvement starts with the interface, which looks more colorful and vivid. The new Interruption settings are there, as well as the Notification Volume Control Access. The update also introduces Factory Reset Protection, which requires users to register their Google account, which, in the event the phone is lost or stolen, will be needed to be keyed in to gain access to the phone. 

As for Sony's Android 5.1 Lollipop update, Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact and Z Ultra will get their much-needed fix on the Stagefright issue. It will also introduce a much more powerful and customizable camera, new features such as events sharing through email on the Calendar and Contacts apps and newfound support for the SmartWatch 3. The notification menu will now have a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth icon, too.
