Carriers in the United States are on a roll in updating LG devices with the latest software from Google. Verizon, for one, just announced that its customers rocking the LG G Vista will finally be able to update to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop in a matter of days. 

The G Vista may not be LG's most popular smartphone offering but it sure isn't overlooked by Verizon. The 5.7-inch mid-ranger was released August last year with Android KitKat 4.4.2. It still runs the same software up to now but that won't be the case in the days to come. 

The phablet is making a big leap, skipping Android 5.0 Lollipop and going straight to the 5.1.1 version, which is currently the latest build of the OS. Since this will be the first time it will get to taste the sweet update, users can expect a slew of exciting changes starting with the interface. 

The colorful and vivid Material Design will enhance the LG G Vista, and it comes with the promise of longer battery life, improved overall performance and enhanced stability. Here, users will receive notifications from the lockscreen and they can set up which ones will show up via the Interruption settings. 

Buttons sport a new design, a search function in the Settings is added, Wi-Fi connections should be more stable than ever, and protection is guaranteed with the new Smart Lock feature which allows users to pair their LG G Vista to a trusted device such as a wearable or a smart car. 

A notification prompt for the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop should drop soon for owners of the device. Users can also check the Settings manually to see if the update is already ready to download and install. 

On the other hand, AT&T is treating the LG G4 with an update that will get rid of StageFright, a menacing issue that allows hackers to remotely gain access to the device and render the handset unusable to the owner with a simple MMS. This fix is already rolling out.
