At a San Francisco event back in September, Google made a big announcement on which platforms the new operating system, Android Marshmallow, will be arriving.

Since the week starting Oct. 5, Android 6.0 has been rolled out to different Nexus devices. However, for those who have Nexus 5X devices, there's a new update for the latest firmware.

According to a report from Droid Life, the Nexus 5X will receive a small update that will upgrade the firmware to a MDB081 build.

The update is 42 MB in size and can be immediately downloaded to the phone.

Reports didn't specify as to what the update brings but Android Geeks noted that based on the size of the update, it's likely to feature a bug fixer and minor improvements to the device's system performance.

The news portal also advised those who own a Nexus 5X and have not received the update to download it from Google. If not update yet, the device will run under a firmware build of MDA89E.

As with any update roll out, it is expected that not all Nexus 5X devices will have the latest firmware build.

The update notification should appear on the device and users need to tap on the notification to download and then install the update.

The phone should reboot automatically and will come with the new update. For those who have not received any notification about the new firmware build, a manual tweaking should be done.

This can be achieved by navigating to systems update found on settings and tap on "Check for Update."

Meanwhile, the Nexus 5X is an update version of LG's Nexus 5 from 2013. The handset features a 5.2-inch full HD display encased in a Gorilla Glass 3.

It runs on a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor and has a 12.3-megapixel main camera and a 5-megapixel selfie shooter. It is also capable of shooting 4K video.

The device has 2 GB RAM. It also comes in 16 GB and 32 GB variants.
