The Android Marshmallow update is now out for Nexus phones, and now, Samsung smartphone owners are eager to find out when they might be able to expect the arrival of the new operating system for their own devices.

On that front, it seems that there is a little bit of both good and bad news.

In terms of bad news, there appears to be no definite arrival date for now for the Android Marshmallow update, but the good news is that Samsung device owners might not have to wait all too long for it.

In the past, the newest Android update would roll out to Samsung devices right around December, with the same holding true for the Lollipop firmware. That timeline may now be a bit earlier for the Marshmallow update.

This time around, the Samsung devices that are expected to receive the Marshmallow update earlier than others include the Note 4, Note 5, Galaxy S5, and the Galaxy S6.

The new update will most likely be made available over the air, so people are best advised to just keep a look out for it moving forward.

As for what people can expect from the Android Marshmallow update when it does arrive, they can look forward to the new Doze app that has been designed to extend the battery life of the smartphones, according to Neurogadget.

Updates have also been made to Google's personal assistant to provide it with added functionality, and as always, there are the routine tweaks and bug fixes that come with each and every major software upgrade.
