Android 6.0 Marshmallow on Droid Turbo 2 release date update: Android M update finally rolls out

While fans are already checking out rumors on the upcoming Android N platform, some mobile devices are still waiting for their expected Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. The latest to receive OTA notifications on the new version is the Motorola Droid Turbo 2.

In an announcement, Motorola said users of the Droid Turbo 2, whether unlocked or carrier-released, will be updated via an OTA notification on the migration to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The post also listed the benefits that the Android 6.0 update brings to the flagship device -- aside from the stock new features integrated by Google, the Motorola version of the platform also introduces device-specific updates.

Motorola Droid Turbo 2 owners who have already updated to Android Marshmallow will be able to unlock a combination of Marshmallow's Ambient Display and the device's Moto Display. Also included is the automatic Attentive Display that will run on battery-saving mode, which automatically dims the Droid Turbo 2's screen to save power.

In addition, Motorola's version of Android Marshmallow also integrates the Moto Assist into a number of Android's stock features. The Moto Assist can now be used in the Driving and Places app, so users can set the Droid Turbo 2 to read aloud call logs and messages while on the road. The Moto Assist feature is also live in the Sleeping and Meeting option of Android 6.0, as an alternative to Marshmallow's Do Not Disturb feature.

Meanwhile, while other recently released flagships discarded the feature, the Droid Turbo 2 picked up Android Marshmallow's adoptable storage feature. This option allows users to expand their internal storage using the microSD expansion slot. This means that when the expanded storage becomes internal storage, the Droid Turbo 2 can accommodate additional apps and programs by having them installed right in the SD card.
