LG, along with Motorola, was the first to gussy up its handsets with Google's Android update. LG G3 users in South Korea and Poland have been enjoying Android Lollipop for a month now, and it's high time that users of LG's flagship smartphone in the United States have their turn in getting the latest operating system. 

Through its official Twitter account, LG USA Mobile assured that life with LG G3 is "about to get sweeter" with the sweet update "coming soon." Aside from the fact that the release is close by, what is missing in the announcement is a solid rollout date. 

But it is almost sure that there will updates popping here and there as early as next week, Phone Arena surmised. Besides, the time frame, as the site pointed out, will be determined not only by how fast LG moves but how quick U.S. carriers AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint and US Cellular (which offer the premium 5.5-inch handset) get the process off the ground. 

While Android 5.0 Lollipop is a significant software jump, Phandroid reminded users that there are not many changes to be seen when Lollipop lands on the LG G3. The site was quick to add that it should be better and interestingly familiar to users who are used to using Android 4.4 KitKat. But for those who want to get it earlier, IB Times has outlined a process on how to install the official CyanogenMod CM12 Custom ROM on the 2014 flagship. It is a nightly version of the AOSP (Android Open Project) 5.0.2 Lollipop update. 

Meanwhile, Android 5.0 Lollipop is in the pipeline for the LG G2, too. According to Phone Arena, the 2012 LG flagship device should be the South Korea-based tech firm's next target in rolling out the operating system. This, of course, is likely to happen after the legion of LG G3 users successfully gets a hold of the sweet treat.
