iOS 8.2 beta download available, upgrade to bring Apple Watch support

Apple is gearing up to release another massive update. The iOS 8.2 beta 5 has finally been made available to developers. The update takes up 258 MB of space and is accessible via the iOS Developer Center and is downloadable over-the-air.

The iOS 8.2 beta is set to bring along support for the Apple Watch as well as essential bug fixes and enhancements on the platform. According to MacRumors, the beta managed to patch up the bug that muddles up the Facebook app. In addition, the annoying GMT bug that messes up the time zone settings on the iPhones has also been addressed. Unfortunately, Forbes has not found any references that seem to put an end to issues on Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and battery, the kind of concerns an iPhone user will take time to write or inquire about in a forum.

With the build number 12D5480a, the update also brings in Xcode 6.2 beta 5 with WatchKit. This allows developers to fashion apps, Glances, as well as notifications for the forthcoming Apple smartgear scheduled to be unveiled in April this year. While a release date for the final build of the iOS 8.2 is yet to be revealed, the Apple community is sure to experience a surge of excitement knowing that the Apple Watch is closer than ever.

Taking a closer look at the WatchKit developer document, MacRumors went on to say that the Apple Watch will greatly rely on an iPhone. Also in the file are details about the various types of content developers can come up with for the heavily hyped up timepiece. It is important to note that the iPhone icon for the said Apple Watch companion as well as its various settings recently leaked and their emergence seems to be very timely indeed.
