A new patent has been rewarded to Apple indicating a removable wristband for the Apple Watch 2 that can function as a watch casing and a table-top stand.

The patent was spotted in the US Patent and Trademark office website shows a design of an Apple Watch wristband that has a magnetic mount. The wristband can also be used as a watch enclosure to protect it during traveling and also as a mount for when users want to display watches on tables, bed-sides and shelves.

The magnetic wristband doesn't seem to be the primary band that will launch with the smartwatch out of the box, but an option for Apple smartwatch users. There is no news as to whether the magnetic wristband will also be compatible with the first generation Apple Watch.

It should be important to note that patents don't always necessarily pull through, but it is a good indication of plans that a company has for tech innovations.

Tech analysts have indicated that the Apple Watch 2 will not be seeing a complete revamp in terms of design and function, and will look pretty much the same as its predecessor which was launched just April last year. However, some improvements and new features are still going to happen for the second generation smart watch by the Cupertino-based company.

9to5 Mac states that the Apple Watch 2 could possibly be launching with a front-facing camera. When Apple launched watch OS 2.0, the company stressed how important it was for them to expand Apple Watch functionality to include FaceTime. If this is seen to happen with the second design of the watch, then the Apple Watch 2 could possibly launch with a camera and with 3G capabilities as well.

According to a Chinese supplier who spoke to CTee, the Apple Watch 2 began manufacturing this month, and should be ready in a few months time. Apple fans are looking at a possible March unveiling of the second generation smartwatch.
