Piqued Ubisoft fans may have been alleviated with the release of the open-world hacking game "Watch Dogs 2" as the developer failed to deliver a new "Assassin's Creed" title this year. Nevertheless, it may well seem that the game maker will be making amends in the following year as the rumor mill is on full throttle that another sequel in the franchise might be in the pipeline.

Speculations surfaced when an insider with the moniker "Nibel" tweeted an image of a laptop display featuring 3D renders that don't seem to make any sense. However, at the upper right corner of the screen, a familiar logo can be seen and it faintly reads "Assassin's Creed Empire." This alleged leak has been making rounds on the web since it was posted over a couple of months ago and has fans musing about the future of the franchise.

If the leak is to be taken seriously, it may well seem to send a message that the next sequel in the game franchise will now be set in Ancient Egypt. Per the leak, the image features a structure in the shape of a pyramid alongside four pillars located at every corner of the structure.

Meanwhile, Ubisoft has not commented on the said leak, though they already pointed out beforehand that they'll be making the announcement themselves in the event that a new game does go gold.

There are also talks going around saying that the protagonist could be a bondsman who'll rise to the occasion and will be accompanied by an eagle that endows him the ability to see as far as his avian ally.

Moreover, other reports suggest that the development of the title is currently underway and that the game could be seeing the light of day during the second half of 2017.
