Asus recently unveiled an upgraded model of their mini desktop computer, dubbed VivoMini PC, which offers decent computing power in a very small package. The desktop itself is like a TV box, being a little more than 5 inches in width and length, and is less than 2 inches in height.

The Asus VivoMini PC -- both the VM65 and VM65N models -- boast performance that is perfect for daily computer use and casual gaming yet the unit is small enough to be tucked away. It is VESA-mount compatible so it can be placed right behind compatible displays. It keeps its temperature down efficiently, consumes less power and is 60 percent quieter than most desktop systems. Asus claims that their previous model has a 26.3db noise level at full-load capacity and makes 18.5db of noise in idle mode. Either way, it is just like somebody whispering.

The latest models house Intel Core Skylake processors, up to 16 GB of DDR4 RAM, and can carry up to two 2.5-inch SSDs or two 3.5-inch HDDs or both through its model-specific Vivo DualBay feature. Audio is provided by SonicMaster's enhanced built-in speakers.

The VM65N is a higher model and comes with a discrete NVIDIA GeForce 930M Optimus GPU that can support 4K UHD display through its HDMI and DisplayPort++. It can also support up to three monitors all at once.

The said model also includes several I/O ports such as two USB 3.1 and USB 3.0, a 4-in-1 card reader and audio-output jack, thus, a keyboard, a mouse and a printer can all be plugged in at the same time, and can still accommodate more. Touchscreen support, Bluetooth 4.0 and an Intel Wi-Fi 802.11 ac connectivity are present as well, as TechPowerUp reported.

The newest Asus VivoMini PC comes in an Iron Gray color scheme with a spun-metal finish. Its slide-open chassis makes future upgrades of memory and storage easy to do.

Asus has not yet released the pricing details but previous VivoMini models start at $150 on Amazon. Neither has a release date been mentioned.
