Regardless of where they are made, it is apparent that we are seeing an Android smartphone invasion of sorts which could spell trouble for leading brand Samsung.

We have already seen a lot of small brands making an impact in the Android market, most of which originate from either China or India. And while Samsung still continues to bank on its brand as an advantage over the rest, there are two devices that are currently making noise and could rank up there (if not overtake) the niche closely associated with Samsung.

One brand is the neophyte player in the Asus Zenfone 2. The Zenfone 2 has been drawing a lot of attention as of late and is certainly something that is value for a buyer's money.

The Asus Zenfone 2 could easily pass as a high-end phone, thanks to the brushed metal look it carries plus a bunch of specs that could pretty well capture the attention of picky smartphone buyers.

Imagine a device that totes a 5.5-inch IPS LCD Full HD display and runs on an Intel Atom Z3580 quad-core processor and 4GB of RAM and you get a device that comes with acceptable display and power for use. For storage, users can choose from 32GB and 64GB internal storage variants while a 13MP main camera and 5MP front-facing camera rounds up its spate of features.

Roughly, the price for the Zenfone 2 starts at around $399 (from GearBest) although some promotional schemes and coupons could help drag down its selling price.

On the other hand, the LG G4 is not so bad either. Improving on the previous LG G3, the LG G4 comes with a brighter and impressive display (5.5-inch QHD LCD Quantum display) while a Qualcomm Snapdrong 808 hexa-core processor provides the needed power the phone would require.

The LG G4 also includes features such as 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded by way of the microUSB card slot. For the camera, the LG G4 boasts of a 16MP main camera while an 8MP camera is available for folks who love taking selfies and plan to use their phone for video calls.

As far as pricing is concerned, the LG G4 can be purchased for about $649 contract-free. Though the price does seem steep, folks who want to get hold of it may look to offers of the LG G4 under a two-year contract which may bring down the price to about $200.

So of the LG G4 and the Asus Zenfone 2, which looks like a better buy?

For people who are worried about the price, the best buy will certainly be the Zenfone 2.

But some points to consider is that the Zenfone 2 does not have an expandable storage and that it makes use of a battery that is non-removable.

These are ably addressed by the LG G4 (expandable storage memory and removable battery) but at a higher price.

Hence, it could all boil down to price and the specs folks would want. Branding is of course another issue but if a phone like the Asus Zenfone 2 is sufficient to impress your needs then why not?
