Asus ZenWatch 2 vs Huawei Watch specs: What will new smartwatches bring?

Taiwanese company Asus has unveiled its ZenWatch 2 smartwatch at this year's Computex 2015 event held in Taipei, Taiwan. The Asus ZenWatch 2 is the successor to last year's original ZenWatch that was released last November after being announced at the IFA 2014 event last September.

It's still unclear when the new ZenWatch 2 smartwatch will be released, but according to an early report by Tech Radar, the smartwatch could be unveiled once again with new details at the upcoming IFA 2015 event in Germany.

Also, another new smartwatch device by Chinese giant Huawei is expected to make its way out by this year as well. Called "Huawei Watch," this smartwatch was unveiled earlier this year at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 event that took place in Barcelona, Spain, and is expected to arrive possibly in September or October, according to earlier reports.

In terms of the features, Asus' ZenWatch 2 is expected to come in two different variants and three different colors. One variant measures 45 x 37mm and the other measures 49 x 41mm. The smaller variant comes with a 18-mm strap while the larger one comes with a 22-mm strap. The colors available will be rose gold, silver, and gunmetal grey.

For Huawei's new smartwatch, it is expected to come in white, black, or gold colors. The gold watch with a leather strap will cost about US$450, and is more expensive than the other two. It was recently revealed that the Huawei Watch had just passed through certification by Federal Communications Commission (FCC), confirming the device's specs.

The Huawei Watch is expected to have a 1.4-inch AMOLED display screen with a 400 x 400 resolution, and will pack Qualcomm's Snapdragon 400 processor, which is the same chipset used for Samsung's Gear Live. For the ZenWatch 2, it's still unclear at this time what processor the device will use and how much resolution it will have.

Some have suggested the ZenWatch 2 will have a Qualcomm processor and an AMOLED display screen as well. In terms of the design, the Huawei Watch will be round, and the ZenWatch 2 is expected to sport curved edges.
