"Attack on Titan" is getting ready for a second strike, as the sequel's release date has finally been announced along with a new trailer for the video game adaptation of the hit anime.

Developer Omega Force and publisher Koei Tecmo have announced that the game will arrive on March 20, 2018, for the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The game will closely follow the second season of the anime, which takes place after Eren Jaeger captures the human form of Annie after fighting her inside the Citadel. Likewise, the game's focus might shift from Eren to other supporting characters, so players expecting mainly to control only Eren and his Titan form might be in for a surprise or disappointment.

The trailer, which accompanied the official release announcement from the developers, also showcases the game's graphics, which was translated well from 2D drawings to 3D animations. The Titans are also scarier this time around; some of these include the intelligent talking monsters during the first episode of the anime's second season. Players can also expect to be able to play as Mikasa Ackerman much more this time around, ziplining between buildings and trees to get to the Titans' weak spot.

"Attack on Titan 2" will also mark the franchise's first appearance on the Nintendo Switch, as its predecessor was not available for the handheld console. Unfortunately for PlayStation (PS) Vita players, the game will only be getting a Vita version in Japan, with no plans for English localization.

True to its namesake, "Attack on Titan 2" is a direct video game adaptation of the anime of the same name. Both originated from the manga, which is set place in a fictional universe where humans are prey to giant and usually unintelligent humanoid monsters called Titans. The Titans have nearly driven all the humans to extinction save for one stronghold city surrounded by enormous walls which could repel Titans.

The manga, anime, and game all follow the exploits of Eren, a human who discovered that he had the ability to become a Titan at will in order to fight them. "Attack on Titan 2" is set to be released on the aforementioned date of March 20, 2018.
