Many fans are eager to see the continuation of humanity's struggle against the giant Titans in the anime adaptation of the manga "Shingeki no Kyojin." However, contrary to previous speculations, it seems that fans will have to wait a bit longer for season 2 of "Attack on Titan" as new rumors say that it might not make it this month after all.

According to Design & Trend, there is an agreement between Hajime Isayama, the mangaka behind "Shingeki no Kyojin," and the creators of the anime adaptation to not continue with the story until after the manga is at least four story arcs ahead. Although the manga is still ongoing and more than half of the story is already finished, the manga is only two arcs ahead of the plot in the anime adaptation.

Season 1 of "Attack on Titan" covered the first 34 chapters of the manga.

This means that although rumors place season 2 of "Attack on Titan" to premiere this month, it is highly unlikely for the show to start without the approval of the manga creator.

However, there are also speculations saying that as what happens in other manga-to-anime adaptations, season 2 of "Attack on Titan" might deviate from the manga storyline. Should this be true, then starting the second season in the earlier part of the year might be plausible. The events in the anime adaptation would not give hints and spoilers for the manga, and the creators might even think of making season 2 the last one for "Attack on Titan."

The early 2016 release date for season 2 of "Attack on Titan" intensified after an alleged preview of the upcoming episodes appeared online, reportedly spoiling the surprise for everyone. According to Korea Portal, the leak showed Titans sandwiched between the city walls, obviously in hibernation. However, there is no confirmation that the leak came from the upcoming season, since it can also just as easily be sequences stitched together by fans.
