"Attack on Titan" season 2 has been anticipated by fans for quite a while now and is rumored to have a different storyline but will still focus on its main characters. Meanwhile, the manga series has been making a buzz on its own, hitting a new milestone in print records.

Inquisitr reported that the second season of "Attack on Titan" will simply not be continuation of the first season, but is speculated to have an independent plot and storyline. These might put off fans that are already familiar with the storyline of the manga.

The upcoming season is expected to be scarier than the previous one. It is rumored that some of the Titans are hiding within the families living inside the wall, where everybody thought they are somehow safe from these giants. Little did they know that they are already living together with them all these years and will be surprised as ever when they show up in the series. Parent Herald reported that a new beast will be introduced, a brutal ape-like Titan that is far stronger than what fans have seen so far.

Eren, Mikasa, Armin and Levi are still said to be the focus on the upcoming season, but it is said to turn to in different direction from its print version. Rumors suggest that the series will also tackle the interesting backstory of these giants, as well as the origin of the walls.

Meanwhile, Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine posted on Twitter that the manga version of "Attack on Titans" has reached the 60 million printed mark. Back in October of 2015, Hajime Isayama's manga passed the 52 million mark internationally. Around December 2013, it had already 28 million copies in print, according to a report by the same publication.

"Attack on Titan" season 2 is not officially announced yet, but according to rumors, it could be back on air by February 2017.
